Het Commonwealth-perk op de stedelijke begraafplaats van Charleroi telt 333 graven. 270 graven dateren uit de Eerste Wereldoorlog en 38 uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog en 23 graven van andere dan Commonwealth-nationaliteiten (waarvan 15 Duitse graven, eigenaardig genoeg allen daterend van begin 1919). Er zijn 73 graven met een luchtvaartconnectie waarvan 28 uit de Eerste Wereldoorlog en 45 uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog, bij deze laatste zijn er acht graven van Poolse vliegeniers.
In de nacht van 29 op 30 maart 1943 werd Halifax II JB805 VR-B van 419 RCAF Squadron neergeschoten tijdens een missie naar Wuppertal in Duitsland, waarschijnlijk door Oblt Rudolf Altendorf of I./NJG 4. De volledige bemanning kwam daarbij om het leven. De bijna volledige bemanning is begraven te Charleroi behalve F/Sgt Peets die op de begraafplaats van Peronnes-lez-Binche Charbonnages begraven is. Naast F/Sgt Peets bestond de bemanning uit Sgt Phillip Shuttleworth Johnson RCAF, Sgt Charles Patrick Baker, Sgt Rowland Stafford Metcalf, Sgt Gwyn Fryn Humphreys, Sgt David Jacob Shtitz RCAF, Sgt Edward Lawrence Armstrong. Zij werden op de begraafplaats van Charleroi in een collectief graf begraven.

De Poolse slachtoffers zijn de bemanningsleden van twee bommenwerpers. Kort na de Tweede Wereldoorlog werd een groot gedenkteken opgericht ter ere van de gesneuvelde Poolse vliegeniers die daar begraven liggen. Het monument staat links aan de hoofdingang, naast het Commonwealth-perk waar ook de Poolse bemanningen werden begraven.
In de nacht van 27 op 28 april 1942 werd Wellington IC Z1088 NZ-D van 304 Squadron neergeschoten op het gehucht Aux Quatre Chênes vlakbij de abdij van Villers-la-Ville, mogelijk geraakt door flak op een missie naar Köln maar andere bronnen linken dit verlies met de claim van Feldwebel Fritz Schellwat of the 5./NJG 1 (Brustem). De volledige bemanning kwam om het leven: F/O Rysard Z. Szcurowski (piloot), F/O Edward Kowalski (bommenrichter), Sgt Zdzislaw Pieczynski (radio-operator/boordschutter), Sgt Stefan Ferenc (radio-operator/boordschutter), Sgt Wincent Garbacz (boordschutter).
